TJ Phillips is a Consulting Actuary with Perr&Knight.  TJ specializes in commercial lines ratemaking and filing support, which includes preparing rate indications, calculating policyholder rate impacts, and drafting actuarial support.   TJ has experience with commercial auto, general liability, professional liability, commercial property, businessowners, medical malpractice, workers compensation and pet health products.  TJ has worked on products that utilize independent rating plans as well as bureau-based rating, including Insurance Services Office (ISO) and the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).  TJ has assisted clients by building Excel-based policy rating tools across multiple coverages, which blend front-end user experience with back-end rating calculations. TJ also has experience preparing reserve reviews, funding estimates, and feasibility studies for insurance companies, captives and self-insured entities.

Prior to joining Perr&Knight’s Boca Raton, Florida office in January 2019, TJ held three co-op positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Crum & Forster and London Life Insurance Company while attending college.  In these positions, TJ completed reserve analyses, assisted with predictive modeling, prepared rate filings and built and maintained models.

TJ graduated from the University of Waterloo in June 2019 with a Bachelor of Mathematics, majoring in Honours Actuarial Science and Joint Honours Statistics with a minor in Economics. TJ is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
